My Cookie Jar!

I am pretty sure that we all know about Cookie Monster.  He is a character from Sesame Street and he loves to eat cookies.  One of the famous lines at that time was "Who stole the cookie from the cookie jar?".  Kids loved him because of his very cute physique and for the fact the he loves cookies (although now he also loves vegetables ;D).

I was thinking that we all wished to have our own cookie jars (with cookies), something that we can call our own.  It looked difficult especially for young kids who does not have money to buy but I wishe that we can all have our cookie jars to make us happy.
As I grow older, having a cookie jar (with cookies), looked so simple to me.
Not because I have money to buy it but because of a different perspective.

Right now I look at that cookie jar as a space, a blank space, where I can put a lot of things, something that cannot be eaten but can be felt.
I like to believe that these cookies have changed my life and I will be forever grateful.
How about you? How do you want to fill your cookie jar? With Sweet things or bitter ones? My suggestion would be, to stick with the sweets things, the happy thoughts, the merry go round that makes our lives exciting and livable.  It will not give us sickness but will give us eternal happiness that we can share to the world.

This is a cookie jar that you can say as "yours" and it cannot be stolen from you (only if you allow it)!  ^_^

Happy Friday: Pancakes and You!

I was talking to Sweets this morning as he was cooking his pancakes!  Oh boy! I miss pancakes, especially when we make it with chocolate chips! So yummy with butter and coffee!

I haven't had a taste of pancake since I left Malaysia, I don't cook breakfast anymore! Hehehehe!

Before, when I was cooking pancakes, Sweets and I both wait until the last pancake is cooked then we eat.  Then I discovered that since I was gone, Sweets is eating it now differently.  How? Here goes:

There you go!
You see the pancake in the pan right? But there is an empty plate right there with the butter, milk and coffee.

After one pancake is cooked, Sweets immediately eats it?
Why?  According to him, he wanted it hot! :D

In essense, it's true, if you wait until all your pancakes are cooked then some of them are already cold and is not that enticing to eat anymore.

~~~~~
How I relate this to LIFE?
Pancakes are like opportunities - if you see them coming and you know that it is the right one then go get it.  Do not wait until somebody else grab it and what's left with you is the cold one.
Pancakes are like jobs - you want to eat pancakes while it's hot.  Like our jobs, you want to do it while your momentum is there.  If the momentum is gone, your job might just sit there and you will not be productive at all.
Pancakes are like our lives - you get excited at first but if you do not put flavor (like the chocolate chips, strawberries, banana on to a pancake) it tends to get boring and lifeless.
~~~~~

My take away:
   ~ Enjoy your pancake while it's hot!
   ~ Enjoy your LIFE while (you are hot! Joke :p) you have the power and will to enjoy it! :)

Why I love you?

I was waiting for an fx to go back home when I saw this couple exchanging lines and it seemed to me that they are just in the courting stage.  I have been in a relationship for quite some time now and I can say that I am pretty proficient in this field already.  I can sense when a couple is:

~ in the courtship stage
~ in the tweetums stage
~ in the honeymoon stage
~ in the "been there done that" stage
~ in the "boring stage" stage
~ in the "kids first before cheesy" stage
~ in the fairy tale "happy ever after" stage

Well I cannot identify how many stages are there when it comes to relationships but pretty much I think I got it all covered.

Anyhow, as I was looking at this couple, I had my flashbacks again (with my silly "Oh my God I remembered something" smile).  I was thinking of my first date with Sweets!

It has been 4 years, 8 months and 4 days since our first date and I can still remember every single bit of moment that happened that night.  I wanted to lay down the top four reasons that got me hooked with him then and still loving him now.

1.  I asked a lot of questions and he confidently answered every one of them - with this I felt that I can learn a lot from this person and that he will be very willing to share what he knows.

2. He allows me to speak my mind - well you all know me and I really talk a lot! He let me be and I loved it when someone appreciates my being so talkative. He did appreciate it and I was happy about it.

KL: asking, making kwento, asking some more
Noel: ang daldal mo pala anoh?
KL: kung hindi ako magsasalita pareho tayo mapapanisan ng laway!
Noel: unga noh!

3. He allows me to decide - I was the one who decided where to ride (because our date was at Global Fun),  where to eat and what time to go home.  - it clearly showed that Sweets listen.  He hears what I have to say and then lay down his comments and options afterwards.  He is open for discussion.

4. He is family oriented - this is something that is not usual for a guy but Sweets is very family oriented and it gave me a lot of inspiration.

After all those years,  even now that we are married, these simple characteristics are still there and I am very happy to say that I am blessed to have him with me!

It will always be a very pleasant and lovely experience to grow with someone who can truly cater your true self.  Someone who is willing to make mistakes, stumble and rise with you! :D

Just Do It!

I was in a sports shop when I saw this tag line from Nike.  Yes! I think everyone of us knows this tag line and in my opinion this is something that pushes someone to do something.

Well in most cases, it may be applicable that in order to accomplish something, we just have to "do it".  What if you are in the premise of "doing something perfectly"? Will this tag line apply?

In my opinion, nothing in this world is perfect and we are at the generation where everything is fast paced that we need to keep up.  If something has to be done, then do it, with caution.  It will never be perfect but whatever difficulty we may encounter, that is the "thing" that we need to learn to perfect along the way.

I saw a very cute banner from Neil Gaiman about making mistakes and I totally agree!

No one is perfect.  Committing mistakes then learning from it makes a lot of difference!

Not too late Bon Voyage!

Two months ago I said goodbye to my small family in EPS.  It was April's last day and it was Eben's bday as well.  So it was three celebrations!

I was happy to be part if this family and I have learned a lot from them, especially dealing with foreign nationals and understanding how they work.  Also not to forget how they have fun!

Thanks to Silvia for our lunch! ^_^

Thanks to everyone who facilitated our farewell and for putting up a very nice scrap book! I never expected a scrap book for our farewell girft and since it was very personalized, i really really loved it.

Photo credit to Nurul:

Thanks also for the cute pouch!

EPS was the only employer that I had in Malaysia and thus I will never forget my memories there! Most especially the friends that I will have forever! I hope to see all of them soon!!

They say that I look like Chinese-Malay, is it?? Hehe

Saturday Spring Cleaning: My Take Away

It has been my 4th spring cleaning activity since I came back from Malaysia. As I was digging that balikbayan box, I was asking myself "bakit ang dami kong damit?".  As I went along fixing my stuff, I was asking the same question but with a different item in mind.  Shoes, Bags to name a few.

Oh boy! Just when I thought I don't have enough shoes or bags or clothes but I was totally wrong!  Then when I asked the same question to Sweets, he told me "matagal ko ng tinatanong sayo yan!" and I must admit that I didn't realize it until now.

From these things, a lot has been given away and I still have a number.

My rule now: KL please stop buying unnecessary things! ^_^

If you know me, you know how stingy I am and hates to buy a lot of stuff but i am so sorry to tell that sometimes I also fall into this trap of panic buying (lalo na kung mura!).  With the rule in place (i hope I can do it), I wish to lessen my panic buying attacks and help my closet breath!

Top 2 tips for myself:

1. Buy clothes, shoes, bags or anything for that matter that are really necessary and will add up to my productivity at home and at work.

2. If I want to buy something, stop for 1 minute and think if I can use the item for the next 5 years. If the answer is "yes" then go buy, if the answer is "no" then no go.

I know I am not the only woman experiencing these panic attacks.  I hope that my tips can also be applicable to any woman (or man) and let us all make our husbands / bfs / fiance / partners happy that we do not buy a lot of stuff!!

My second Cake

This is my second cake! The first one was the no bake Milo Cake.  This one is simpler and easier than the last one.

First you have to grab the following:

Kit Kat, M&Ms and sponge cake!
Wrap the Kit Kat to the sponge cake and secure it by putting a ribbon of your choice.  Then sprinkle with M&Ms on top!

Very simple right!
If you have more time in your hands then you can try melted chocolate and pour it at the middle and drizzle it with white tiny marshmallows.

Easy to do cake!

Happy Friday: High Performance Delivered!

Wow! I am so happy that I cannot even wait for Friday til I get to write about this wonderful achievement!

Sweets' have been working in Malaysia for more than two years now and was already assigned to different projects and teams.  It's been quite some time when he focused on Release Management where his skills were fully utilized and he really enjoyed the work.

I saw how dedicated my husband was in doing his job not just by delivering the assigned tasks but by giving valuable guidance and assistance to clients.  An added bonus was to be guided by a wonderful person and mentor Chan Min!

Every hardwork has a corresponding reward and it all paid off when Sweets' received his Recognition Award!

Wowowow! If I am in Malaysia right now, I was probably in front of the stage taking pictures and smiling up to my ears! Very proud of Sweets!! ❤

Saludo ako sa Iyo!

In our everyday lives we will always take action.  In every action a corresponding decision was made and in every decision a consequence will be presented.

Now it's just a matter of finding out that we have made the right decision when we see the consequences of our actions.  It will always be a never ending cycle and we will always learn from It.  We will be held responsible and accountable for the things that we have decided.

So is it now hard to make a decision if one will be aftaid of the consequences? The answer is "no"!  It's the fear of not having to decide that fears me more!

I wanted to say how proud I am with my husband for making a decision that may seem difficult but in reality is not.  Decisions are made easy when you are clear with what you want in life and I am pretty clear in saying that he made the right decision!

Saludo ako sayo! AsawaKo!

Japan: Not the country but the Dinner!

It's very seldom that we eat out for Japanese Cuisine but since there is a reason to celebrate (Sweets' Day) then we opted to have it.  As I always tell, something to eat will always be better with someone to eat with.  There is no better way than to share a meal with family and friends.  This time, we ate together with our family here in Malaysia.

Sushi Zanmai is located at The Gardens and you have to be there at least 30 minutes to an hour before your scheduled dinner because you have to queue up.  True enough, that was really the case.

Good thing, Sweets and I was already in the queue at aroud 6:15pm and at 7pm we were seated! Yes that loong but it was definitely worth the wait.

Here we are while waiting for our foodies!

Reo, Joel, Chles and Nelvs!

Sweets, me, Ced and Karl!

Nelvs, Khristian and the love birds!

Then to our foodies! ^_^

It was not all of it but it was definitely a burpy one!

Wow I had a great laugh during that dinner.  It was not even a catch up because it doesn't seem that I am not with them here in MY.  I guess that's how good friends really are!

I don't have plans of coming back in MY again but I will definitely see them all soon!  Ciao for now!

Happy Friday: Thank you Big T!

One of the Fridays that I am anticipating because I going to visit Sweets! Yey! ^_^

Having a Long Distance Relationship does not mean that it's the end of the world nor the start of a breakup.  Well, nowadays, even if you are miles apart from your loved one it doesn't matter anymore.  Simply because the word "Technology" has a lot to offer.  It's just a matter of learning everything and putting it to use.

The other day I was just thinking how lucky our generation is right now.  There are many ways to reach out to the people who are not physically with us and this is something that we all should be happy about.

I am also thankful for the cheap flights that are being offered, it really helped a lot of people who wants to visit their family abroad (me, me, me).

Let me park for now and smile all day because of the excitement that I am feeling! Oh wow - it feels like years, im excited to give Sweets my "Super Hug".

I will always and forever be thankful that Sweets' is in my crazy whirlwind life.  He is my husband and my everything.  There is simply no word in the dictionary to explain how thankful and blessed I am to be with him!

Many things to be thankful for and I don't think I can count the reasons behind my wonderful smile. Let me elaborate as far as I can!

Who do you miss today?

We are always busy doing something!  There can never be nothing because even staring at the laptop the entire day is still "something".

In our very busy day to day activity was there ever a time that we remembered someone? I bet there was

This happens to me all the time.
I wanted to re-emphasize that remembering someone is one thing and making our presence felt is another.

Here are the two simple things that I do everytime I remember someone:

~ Send a simple "Good Morning" sms
~ make a call

Remembering doesn't need to be grand, it just have to be sincere!
Happy Tuesday everyone, go call someone and make their day bright!

How big we have grown!

One of the best traits that we Filipinos have is that we have very close family ties. We always put our family first and we always get together and this is one great trait that I am very proud of.

I am already married and is staying with my husband.
My brother is working in Makati and stays in his own place.
My father is working out stationed and goes back home only on weekends.

My younger sister is still in Highschool.
My younger brother is at his last year in University.
My mother a professor at our hometown.

Very seldom that we see each other also because of the busy schedules that we have.  However, because we are naturally family oriented, we make TIME.

That's what makes me even more proud to be part of this family.
We are not perfect but we know what are expected from us.

We make time even if we are scattered all over the place.
We make time to catch up.
We make time to eat together.
We make time to keep that family bond intact!

Just this weekend, we were all together again and Louise (my sister) insisted of us having a Family Portrait.

We did not have the chance before and it's great that we have done it.
I think this will happen more often than expected.

Let's start with the wacky shot!

Then the formal one!
See how big we have all grown! :D

After the shot we had our dinner as requested by Papa Gary.
