Happy Friday: What do you want to be?

I am always fascinated with the people around me who are making their dreams into reality.  Like:

- Someone who graduated from High School and was able to get his dream course
- Someone who graduated from University and was able to get his dream job
- Someone who appplied for migration and was granted
- Someone who loves to teach and is doing it
- Someone who loves to act and is a good actor
- Someone who saved money to be able to travel
- Someone who saved money to buy a car or an expensive bag
- Someone who loves to share ideas to the world through blogging
- Someone who loved financial planning and is sharing it to people

When we look at the people around us, you will see that they are all happy doing what they like and enjoying what they have, but how about us?  What do we want to be? What do we want to achieve?

Simple: We just have to BE US! I just have to BE ME!

In doing this, we are empowering ourselves to achieve what we want and go to the places we want to go!  The world is a big competition but we do not have to compete with the people around us.  If we want to be better, everytime, we have to compete with ourselves!

Happy Friday: Knowing your BIG Rocks

Early this year I attended a training here at Accenture - Five Choices.
I heard that it's a must attend training and so I did! I am always excited to attend trainings because I know that I will learn something new and Accenture Trainings never fail to do what I expected.

Anyhow, I do not plan to discuss the training :)
I just want to highlight one of the important things that I learned. Though I already heard of it before, hearing it from the training makes it more reliable!

The presentation mentioned three wordsl GRAVEL and BIG ROCKS!
The GRAVEL represents simple (but many) things that occupies our life and make us less productive, it includes:

- Unnecessary emails
- Instant Messages
- Phone calls
- Urgent meetings
- Adhoc requests
- Prolonged internet surfing

Then the BIG ROCKS includes the following:

- Self
- Family
- Health and Insurance
- Finances
- Dreams and Aspirations

Then sometimes (well most of the time) we crave for the urgencies in life, that includes:

- Excessive internet Surfing (which includes non stop Social media browsing)
- Excessive TV Watching / Series watching
- Over sleeping
- Emails, emails and lot more emails (unimportant)

With these urgencies in life, we tend to forget to think about the important things in life - the things that should really matter and deserves our attention and time. Like thinking about ourselves and our family.

Remember -- work will always be work and when we let them dominate our lives, we lose focus on what's really important.

Imagine that our time is a big bowl, unnecessary things are the GRAVEL and the important things are the BIG ROCKS. How can we fit them all in, in our lives, given the limited time that we have? I know you know the answer -- to further illustrate, please watch this video from one of the seminars conducted by Steven Covey:

If we let the GRAVEL fill our bowl first, then the BIG ROCKS will no longer fit it.
Therefore, it's important that we prioritize the BIG ROCKS over the gravel.

Now how do you plan to sort out your GRAVEL and BIG ROCKS?

Happy Friday: When life gives you lemons...

Who the hell will care what you do with it?

Your LIFE is yours and you have the power to do whatever it is that you like.
If you are guided with the values taught by your parents and family then you know exactly what you can do with your life.

Here are some of my simple tips on how to make your life worth while.

1. Value simplicity - it is through simple things that big things prosper
2. Love Dearly - love without asking something in return
3. Help Sincerely - we are watched by Him and He will give us good karma
4. Expect Less - you will be happy in everything that will come unexpectedly
5. Smile a lot - even if you have challenges, smile at it and you will feel light

Always value the people who shows that you are worthy to be loved.
Be true to your family and friends who are there even when you don't need them. Be reachable! Be Lovable!

Simple things make simple people happy!
Make it a habit to make the most out of our simple days!

Happy Friday: Pancakes and You!

I was talking to Sweets this morning as he was cooking his pancakes!  Oh boy! I miss pancakes, especially when we make it with chocolate chips! So yummy with butter and coffee!

I haven't had a taste of pancake since I left Malaysia, I don't cook breakfast anymore! Hehehehe!

Before, when I was cooking pancakes, Sweets and I both wait until the last pancake is cooked then we eat.  Then I discovered that since I was gone, Sweets is eating it now differently.  How? Here goes:

There you go!
You see the pancake in the pan right? But there is an empty plate right there with the butter, milk and coffee.

After one pancake is cooked, Sweets immediately eats it?
Why?  According to him, he wanted it hot! :D

In essense, it's true, if you wait until all your pancakes are cooked then some of them are already cold and is not that enticing to eat anymore.

~~~~~
How I relate this to LIFE?
Pancakes are like opportunities - if you see them coming and you know that it is the right one then go get it.  Do not wait until somebody else grab it and what's left with you is the cold one.
Pancakes are like jobs - you want to eat pancakes while it's hot.  Like our jobs, you want to do it while your momentum is there.  If the momentum is gone, your job might just sit there and you will not be productive at all.
Pancakes are like our lives - you get excited at first but if you do not put flavor (like the chocolate chips, strawberries, banana on to a pancake) it tends to get boring and lifeless.
~~~~~

My take away:
   ~ Enjoy your pancake while it's hot!
   ~ Enjoy your LIFE while (you are hot! Joke :p) you have the power and will to enjoy it! :)
