CF CMT Halloween Party 2014

End of October is really the time for spooky get togethers.
For kids, it is famously known as "Trick or Treat" but for adults it's known as "Crazy Time" where people don't really mind how they look as long as they look spooky and crazy! hahahah!

So we've decided that we wanted to get along with the fun and here it is!
Do I have to tell you who is who? :p

To add more fun -- we had the "Best Halloween Costume" contest and each team was "indeed" very competitive.

Let's start off with Lhen's Team!
Theme: Scary Movies
Starrring: Lhen - Black Lady
                Ven - Zombie Tsunami
                Ann - Devil wears Prada
                Jerome - Balete Tree Man
                Tiney - Werewolf in Twilight

Now to my team.
Theme: Witch in the City (obvious ba?)
Starring: KL        - Witch 1
              Odette  - Witch 2

Then we have Mae's Team
Theme: The Mummy
Starring: Mae - Explorer 1
              Rox - Explorer 2
Ace - The Mummy (na nanigas!)

AND THE WINNER!!!
This is Tina's Team
Theme: Wedding of the Deads
Starring: Tina - Groom with dead zombie baby
Karen - Bride with black boquet

Note that the winners received a prize! GC and Pancit Canton Package!
Special thanks to Spam for judging the contest!

See, the team was very competitive (hindi ko inexpect) and we were so happy to see each other all spooky dressed up!  I wonder how we will dress up if we will have a formal occasion! Bongga un!

Of course, this party will not be more fun if we will not share our meal.
Care of the entire team, we were able to put up a decent lunch! hahahah!
We also had B-B-Q, Pichi Pichi (hindi na na-picturan sa katakawan).

I prepared some Sweet Treats.
You know how much I love Sweets!!!

We had Gummy Teeth and Eyes (made of Marshmallows and chocolate)

Then we had Red Velvet Crinkles and Java Cake on a Spidey Stick.

We had pumpkin candy (Thanks Tina) and gummy worms.

Then Tina got the drinks for us!

Overall it was a fun filled Halloween Party.
Thanks to Ms My (our manager) who was very supportive of the idea!

Till our next party guys!

Happy Friday: What do you choose today?

Wow! It's already Friday and the week is about to end.  It's one of those weeks that I was very pre occupied about work and other things that the week just passed by quickly.

Good thing, the plans I made for this week happened and I am very excited now for weekend.  How about you? How was your week? Was it tiring? Awesome? Routinary? Or same old, same old?

Whatever our week looked like, at the end of the week is always a weekend, so we always have to choose to be happy on a weekend! We don't want to burden ourselves by bringing along work on a weekend! This is a big No-No for me and I hope you do too!

For me its always important to choose happiness! It will not only lighten our day, we can also influence others yo be happy!! Right!!

DIY for Christmas: Simple Purse

I have been talking about Christmas because I am just so excited about the season!  One of the things that I love about Christmas is how people are so excited to give out gifts.  Christmas has always been the season of giving!

Speaking of gifts -- for me the best gift that you can give is something that you created on your own.  If it's personalized, the sincerity of gift giving is nothing compared against buying from the stalls.

You know how I am very fond of DIY and during Christmas season I can think of a lot.  Let me start with my love for sewing.

Last year, Sweets' Christmas gift to me was a mini sewing machine.
I used it I think twice and then after that it stayed in the shelves.  I got busy :(

But now IM NO LONGER BUSY!!!!
Because it's Christmas I have my reason to be reunited with my sewing machine and my first project is this!!!

Let me start with my trusty mini sewing machine!

Now on to my materials:

1. 2 pcs Exterior cloth, 10cm x 15cm - zebra print
2. 2 pcs Interior cloth, 10cm x 15cm - canvass
3. Foam same size with your cloth
4. Colored zipper same size with cloth
5. Scissors
6. Push pins
7. Thread - color depends on you

I was guided by this video!
Very awesome tutorial for a dummy sewer like me! :D

And of course I just followed everything that was mentioned in the tutorial
(Ako na masunurin!)  Here is what happened next:

Then the finish product is... Tadah!!!

It's not perfect but in practice I can make it near perfect!

I asked Sweets to use this pouch because it matched his phone -- tumingin lang siya sa akin ng "tiger look"

Til my next DIY!

To whom are you Thankful today?

We have to ask ourselves everyday if the people around us still makes us happy.  Why? We have to validate if we are helping ourselves or not.

If we surround ourselves with the people who makes us happy then we are helping ourselves live an easy life. However, if we surround ourseleves with the people who makes us feel bad about something then we are not helping ourselves -- we are leading our lives to doomsday!

So if we don't want to be cranky and all then we need to wake up and continue the "Validation".  Are they still the same people who are willing to help us grow as a person, as a wife, as a daughter, as a sister, as a colleague, as a friend!  If the answer is a huge "NO" then we have to pack our bags and move on.  It will only bring us harm than good! A friendly reminder from me who is always surrounded with the people that makes me happy and inspires me to be more!!!

Welcoming Monday!

Do you dread Mondays?
Sometimes I do because it's back to work (or school) again and I still want to extend my weekend!

However, Mondays will always come every week and whether we like it or not, Mondays will always be there!

Good thing for me, I learned how to find inspiration from Mondays!  As I was busy doing my To Do List and as I was about to slash some of the things that I have done.. I saw this!

Such as inspiration right???
Just when I was so pre occupied about work and about finishing my tasks, an angel would always remind me to take it slow! An angel from work which makes working fun!

How about you? What's your inspiration at work? Have you found your angel?

HP Cup: Bowling Tournament

We all know that the favorite sports of Sweets is bowling and when HP announced that they will have their yearly HP Cup, Sweets already knew which sports to join.

Last week, the HP cup was opened and yesterday was  the first and final games for bowling.  Here are his very energetic team mates!

I'm excited for Sweets because he gets to play again! Before he had a team with Accenture and Standard Chartered and now with HP.  It's good to know that even though he transferred companies, he can still play his favorite sport with these tournaments (for free)!

Good thing, their team (males) was shortlisted to move on to the finals.  They ranked 3rd from the elimination round and only 4 teams moved on.

The final round was 2 games, he did not play in the first game but was part of the line up for the 2nd game.  He was hoping that (despite his low scores in his last game) his team captain would include him in the line up and when JC (team captain) included him, he said to me "babawi Ako!".

True enough! He did very well in that game and I also want to commend his team mates who did very good as well.  From being 4th in the first games of the Finals, they became 1st runner up (like 20+ points missing to be the champion) at end of the Finals Tally.  It was an achievement not only for Sweets but for the rest of the team because they never gave up!  Simply because they know they can!!

Another good thing to note is the continuous programs and initiatives of companies to make sure that their employees have "Work Life Balance" through these activities!  Kudos to all employers who value the passion of their people (outside of work).  With these initiatives, employees may become more engaged to work, because they look forward to these activities.

How you do you handle your anger?

How do you handle your anger? Is it also the same with the way you handle your pimple?

In any situation in my life, the thing that I hate feeling is anger. It can happen instantly due to a certain trigger and I am just not comfortable with it.  However, even if I am not comfortable with it, it's inevitable to happen and we don't have control over the behaviors of the people around us that might trigger the emotion.

It's fine to feel angry but what's important is your actions and behaviors after that feeling.  Let me share with you some of my best practice in handling anger -- just like how I handle my pimple!

1.  Let it be! Like my pimple, if I am angry about something or someone, I just let it be.  Sometimes, leaving the feeling or pimple will heal itself.

2. Avoid the cause! Like my pimple, they keep on appearing if I use this particular brand of foundation and so my solution is not to use it anymore.  If I am angry about something or someone, the best thing to do is to avoid that person.

Now, this is what I do not want you to do with your anger or pimple....

Do not -- I repeat -- Do not make tiris!! (Squeeze it)
This is an instant solution for your pimple but it will definitely (I am sure if this) leave a mark on your face and you don't want that!  Like anger -- confronting it with gigil will do more harm than good and so I highly recommend my two tips above.  It worked for me (both with anger and pimple) and so I believe that it will work for you too!!

Happy Friday: How do you measure Happiness?

How do you measure your happiness?

Different people knows how to measure happiness differently and more often than not it all boils down on how they grew up.

I was a simple girl back then (well up to now naman!) and the only thing I care about was if I have my luto lutuan to play with and my things for schooling.

I was very pleased when Mama would buy me a new set of Crayola or when Papa would bring pasalubong from work.

I was excited for weekends because that was our "bukid time" where all Hernandez Family meet up at our grandparent's house and play bingo.

I feel accomplished every time Mama would teach me for "Timpalak Bigkasan" or Vocal Solo even though I don't win.

I was excited every time I don't have class because Papa would bring us to his office and we can play with his computer and calculator.

I loved playing with the elephants, dancing in the rain and eating Ovaltine + Nido + Sugar (yes all dried and mixed up together).

Those were the times where my happiness were very simple.  They were very defined and it kept me going on for hours and hours.

Years passed by (yes so quickly) and it seemed like everything changed.  I have different priorities now and I no longer think about myself to be happy, like getting material things.  I look at the people around me and that's where I get my true happiness!

1.  When my family would (whether they like it or not) listen to my rendition of "The Climb" and cheer their lungs out for me.

2.  When Louise starts to say "Ate, knock knock"

3. When Mika would wait and pick me up sa kanto ng UCPB every time I go home in San Pablo.

4. When GbOy buy things for Mama, Louise, Mika and Papa -- Hindi kase siya kuripot. :p

5. Every time when Mama would prepare our breakfast at 6am but people start waking up at 10am

6. Every time Papa would prefer to go home instead of staying in his office dorm (which is 4 hours away from San Pablo)

7. Every time when Mama Lena would fix our bed and take care of us when we are sick.

8. Every time when Papa Nestor would wash our clothes and press them then bring to our room

9. Every time my best friends would laugh at my super corny jokes

10.  Every time Sweets would make me feel super beautiful and special -- too many to mention!

These are my simple joys and happiness and I don't know if there was ever a machine or calculator invented to measure the happiness that my Family and Best Friends bring.  In my heart, I measure them all as Blessings from HIM!

How about you? How do you measure your happiness?

Happy World's Teachers Day!

Today, October 5, is World's Teachers Day!
We all had our chance of being taught.. We all have our Nanay-Teachers with us and in school we had our own teachers.

Some were our favorites and some were our worst enemies but regardless of whether we hate them or not all of them played an important role in our lives.

I studied for 12 years but until now that I am married and working, I still need help from my teachers.  I cannot stress enough how important teachers are in our lives and thus I am very thankful for what they did.

Here are my ways to give thanks:

1.  Be the best person that we can be - if we do these then we are valuing the things that they have taught us.

2. Do not forget - now that we live in a virtual world where social media is the #1 mode of communication, let us not forget to send a quick message or a birthday greeting.

3. Pay it forward - in our own simple way, we can always pay it forward.  Some may opt to be teachers themselves, some can share whatever skills they have like volunteering in our communities, schools or companies.

Again! Happy Teacher's Day to all teachers out there! Thanks to all your patience in letting me know what's right and what I should value in my Life! Special thanks to the special teachers in my Life.

1. My parents in Law - for teaching me how to be a good and responsible daughter in law and good wife to my husband.

2. My Papa Gary - for teaching me how to value money and how to work hard to have a better future!

3. My Mama Inday - for teaching me that family should always comes first!

4. My Sweets - for teaching me how to improve myself without compromising anything that I value.
