Simple Meal: Ginataang Sitaw at Kalabasa

source

One of the many dishes that I learned to cook while here in MY is Ginataang Sitaw at Kalabasa.

After referring to recipes from the internet, I have finally mastered the taste that my husband and I would love.

Here goes:

1. 1/8 part of small sized pumpkin
2. 10 pcs of string beans (cut into 3 inches)
3. 3 cloves garlic (minced)
4. 1 small sized onion, chopped
5. 1/8 kilo diced pork
6. 1 green chili
7. 1 cup coconut milk
8. Salt and Pepper to taste
9. Half pork cubes
10. 3 tbsp cooking oil

Procedure:

1. Cut the string beans and pumpkin into its regular serving size
2. In a sauce pan, pour in your cooking oil, let it heat for 30 seconds
3. Pour in garlic, onion, pork and pork cubes ~ saute and wait until the pork is slightly brown
4. Add the pumpkin and suate until the pumpkin is half cooked
5. Add the string beans, saute for one minute
6. Pour in the coconut milk, continue stirring until the coconut milk becomes light brown and thick
7. Add in the salt, pepper to taste, may also add fish sauce. Then add the green chili.
8. Simmer for another 5-10 minutes (depending on how you want your pumpkin to be cooked)
9. Serve while hot with steamed rice
10. Good for two people

This dish can be made together with shrimp.
It can also be paired with fried fish (GG in Pinas).

Enjoy!
