Our Room: "You and Me Day" 2015

We visited this cool place where we experienced a lot of "Fall Shots"!
Yes "Fall Shots" and not "Jump Shot".  Interesting right!

Let's start off with this famous fall shot of Sweets!

Then followed by my fall shot to this bed!

Then I tried to lay down from the ceiling -- I felt I was spider woman!

Then I badly had this shot to get the Rubix Cube!

Finally we ended the day with this cozy room from H2O.

Again, Happy You and Me Day to us! Til next year!!
Lablab!

The inverted room was still part of "Yexel's Toy Museum"
While the last room was from H2O

Our "You and Me" Day 2015

I won't end this month without sharing what we did on our "You and Me" Day.
It has been a tradition every year that we have to do something different or funny on our Anniversary and what is funnier than this.

It was a weekend where we thought and realized that we are really kids at heart!

It started with these blue and yellow ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-na-na!

Then followed by my favorite Christmas Song Artists!
"Alvin"!

Who would not be in love with Mr Superman?  Well I am Mrs Fernando!

Hey Spiderman -- please stop posing and save Mr Fernando falling down the street!

Can you still remember when the Gods and Goddesses convened? From the movie "Percy Jackson and The Olympians"

And this person was really "Waaaah" (from the Lord of the Rings).

We also enjoyed the outer space...

As much as Sweets enjoyed hiding at the back of these Storm Trooper Corps.

We also had the chance to sit in the Iron Throne! Oh yes and I am wearing "Greyjoy".

Then we discussed some matters with our visitor -- yeah he doesn't want to take a photo opp in groups! He wants it individually.

Then be brought his troops along!

Oh wow! What a lovely day it is!!
Now who wouldn't enjoy that treat?

Where is this? In Yexel's Toy Museum at Ocean Park.
Entrance fee is Php250.00 per person and opens from 10am - 7pm daily.

Welcome Monday!!

Does this calendar look familiar to you?
Maybe for some this is just a simple domino of meetings. Some might have a more jampacked calendar and more nightly calls but what if your calendar looks like this??

Well this is my normal work week and sometimes it gets more jampacked as the need arises -- but I always look at it as a stationary that is full of stories (sometimes mysteries).

I don't look at it as another dreaded work week that I don't want to go to work anymore!  This is part of my life and I know that the week will pass smoothly and I will have a great weekend!! Yes, its just Monday and I am already thinking about weekend.. This is one way that makes me feel engaged.  That somewhere after the tunnel there is light and I can enjoy my self with the people that I love.

Maybe you can also do the same?? So that you won't dread Mondays and any other work week for that matter!!

Happy working everyone!!

Learning experience from Arianna Huffington

Some two weeks ago, another Learning opportunity was given to us by Accenture.  I was given the opportunity to attend the six - week course of Arianna Huffington in collaboration with Oprah Winfrey Network.

Accenture not only is concerned about our career development; they are also heavily involved in investing for our personal development and thus I felt blessed to be part of the group who can benefit in this six - week course.

With the very hectic schedule that I have right now, it takes dedication to proceed with this course and I am determined to finish it together with the other Accenture employees participating in this course as well as my colleagues and leads.

It started with a reading assignment and I would like to echo what I have learned so far and what I plan to do moving forward.

1. Success is not only measured with Money and Power.  While we are busy achieving success, we also have to take care of ourselves.  Simply put: health is wealth!

2. Technology is a good tool to have but is equally dangerous if we do not know how to use them.  In this day in age that we are all communicating majority via email, it is us who needs to be the boss of our emails and not the other way around.

3. Personal interaction is the ultimate tool to strengthen relationship.  It gives health benefits that money can't buy.

4. Give back - whether this is money, time, skill or even attention.  Giving something to someone increases our happy hormones and helps promote a healthy life!

I know my next steps, how about you?

My eyes are pressuring me!!

I have been reporting to CG two times this week now because of meetings and I noticed something about myself.

My eyes were wandering and it seemed to be enjoying herself -- with all the things that she is seeing -- she now wants to play dress up!

Since I worked in Gateway, I have been wearing my simple pants and top all the time -- don't care about fashion because the people I see in Gateway are all BPO folks who wore jeans and the CF people are not that stilleto lovers.

When I was in CG -- Oh boy! I suddenly missed the days when I always wear skirts and dress and heels.  Partnered with a bag and a scarf -- I missed the old KL!

I can't control what my eyes see but I can definitely control what my mind is telling me.

"KL, stay as you are! You don't want to be spending for shopping just to go back to the old you and play dress up.  Do what you have in your closet and no matter what you see in other people, you will always be beautiful in your eyes and in the eyes of the people who love you".

I think this applies not only about dressing up but with other things as well! Simple: be content with with you have and nothing can be more happier!

Aja!

15 years (and counting) of Friendship!

True Friendship isn't about being inseperable.  It's about being separated and nothing changes!

And its really true for your true friends.  No matter the distance, true friends will always make time to get together and catch up!  If I started doing this blog when I was in college then probably I have written a lot of activities together!

There is no particular occasion -- we just wanted to get together and celebrate our birthdays and our togetherness.  No fancy cupcakes, make ups and beautiful dresses, just us in our simple get up!

It was supposed to be a swimming activity but we chose not to and instead make a lot of kwento about what happened in our lives!  Its always good to catch up and it felt like yesterday when we all last talked!

I even don't think of them as my best friends, they are my sisters.  They are the family that I choose to be with forever!

We decided to bring some food to share to make our chika more fun!!

My forever girls!!

La Roca: Swimming time with Hernandez

Now let me share with you some details about the resort.
Again, this is a public resort in Los Banos Laguna and if you are just looking for a place to have some water with cheap rates then this is one of the places to be.

If you want a private place then you can choose La Rocas's private area where you have your house and little pool.  There are also a lot of private resorts in Los Banos or Calamba Laguna to choose from.

Now back to La Roca!
I must say that it already improved from the time we went there almost more than 20 years ago.

This is where we stayed.  We rented half of this area, at the third level is an air conditioned room that can accommodate 15-20 people.

Below the room, you have a shared toilet and bath.

Then we have the eating area with refrigerator, tables and chairs.

There is also an area for BBQ!

If you want a cheaper place to stay in La Roca, there are more tables and cottages available.

There is also a place for some recreation like table tennis and volleyball!

They have two pools, one for kids and one for adults. The one for adults has one slide.

If you want a simple swimming then this is really the way to go!

Overall, I enjoyed my stay at La Roca!
Visit them and see for yourself !!

Hernandez' Bingo Royale @ La Roca

Another great event just happened last weekend.  It all started with a throwback profile that we want to play Bingo!

A bit of history: More than ten years ago, when Mamy Lola was still alive and living at San Crispin, we were all (Hernandez Family) used to go there almost every weekend to play Bingo and eat Sopas.  Yes, those were the days and because Mamy Lola joined our Creator in 2005, then we got all busy and all, our Bingo Sessions stopped.

Going back to the post of Tita Baby - she asked Hernendez family if we want to play Bingo for old times sake (it was around March) and then everything followed.

Towards the end of April, the Hernandez Bingo Royale was formed!  We all agreed to have the event at La Roca Resort - it is a public resort in Los Banos Laguna and we rented the other half of the cabana (I don't know how they call it).  We have an aircon room that can accommodate 15-20 people, then we have a mini sala set and a closet (with hangers). Then below the room, we have the open area where there were tables and chairs that can accommodate almost 30 people, refrigirator and a water dispenser.  Electric fans were also available.

Every time we gather like this (like our Christmas Party) we do pot lock and therefore each family is assigned to bring one dish and their own rice and utensils.  It was a blast of food!! One of the most awaited was the Langka and the Tulingan!  Here is what we all shared!

Let me share with you the food that we shared!

I think we ate for an hour, immediately fixed the table and started to play Bingo! The most awaited part of the gathering! It was so exciting because before -- its just us cousins playing bingo -- but now our nephews and neices are playing with us as well!

It's exciting to play Bingo especially if there are a lot of side comments and reactions when numbers are being called.  Papa Gary is the one calling the numbers and one funny moment was when he called a number in Spanish then one of our nieces asked..

It took them 2 hours before they reached the peak of the Bingo Royale -- the famous "Black Out".

Our host (Tita Baby) was the one who called out for the " Black Out" and it was so intense!! Everyone was excited but at the end of game winners will prevail! It was lucky Mika and Joshua!!

Yey to a successful Hernandez Bingo Royale! Til next summer outing!
