Learning experience from Arianna Huffington

Some two weeks ago, another Learning opportunity was given to us by Accenture.  I was given the opportunity to attend the six - week course of Arianna Huffington in collaboration with Oprah Winfrey Network.

Accenture not only is concerned about our career development; they are also heavily involved in investing for our personal development and thus I felt blessed to be part of the group who can benefit in this six - week course.

With the very hectic schedule that I have right now, it takes dedication to proceed with this course and I am determined to finish it together with the other Accenture employees participating in this course as well as my colleagues and leads.

It started with a reading assignment and I would like to echo what I have learned so far and what I plan to do moving forward.

1. Success is not only measured with Money and Power.  While we are busy achieving success, we also have to take care of ourselves.  Simply put: health is wealth!

2. Technology is a good tool to have but is equally dangerous if we do not know how to use them.  In this day in age that we are all communicating majority via email, it is us who needs to be the boss of our emails and not the other way around.

3. Personal interaction is the ultimate tool to strengthen relationship.  It gives health benefits that money can't buy.

4. Give back - whether this is money, time, skill or even attention.  Giving something to someone increases our happy hormones and helps promote a healthy life!

I know my next steps, how about you?

Craving for something to eat...

But you also need to watch your calorie intake?
I saw this quick guide in answering our cravings!

I hope this will be helpful for all of us.
We can look at this list all day but what's important is that we do something about this list.  It has to be done!  Let's start NOW!

Now are we ready to do this?
C'mon! There is nothing more cool than being healthy but satisfying our cravings! :)

Stress, where did you come from?

Whether you are studying, working, running a business or just at home taking care of your children, stress is one aspect that will always there.

For me, this word is over-used and I hate to hear it (sad to say).  I know we will all get stressed at some point but instead of focusing on it, we should do something about it.  It is like a negative energy that will drain the life out of us and is something that we should get rid of or at least make it something better.

Stress is one of the reasons for so many illnesses and thus taking action about it will not only save us from these illnesses, it will also save us money and energy.

I was able to read this article from Healthline that I would like to share to everyone.

There are many articles to lessen stress, to fight off stress, to feel stress free and so on and so forth but this one for me are simple things that will help us to leave stress behind.

Some other tips to cope with unavoidable stress include:
  • Laughing a little every day.
  • Cutting stimulants (like caffeine and sugar).
  • Relaxation and meditation.
  • Talking to a friend or counselor.
Each one of us is unique and one coping mechanism may not be applicable to another person.  Therefore, I would suggest that we find our own candy for stress.  It can be as simple as satisfying a hobby or reading a comic book.  Eating is one coping mechanism but we should be careful as this might affect our health if we overeat sweets or processed food.  Healthy munchies that might relieve stress can be fruits and nuts (they are still sweet but healthy".

Happy Stress free to all of us!
